Marvin Rush

Founded in 1965 by W. Marvin Rush, son of a bus company owner, Rush Enterprises started as a GMC truck dealership in Houston amid a nascent commercial truck market. Marvin envisioned expanding into a network of dealerships across the southern U.S., initiating with a Peterbilt dealership in 1967 and subsequently launching leasing and finance divisions. By 1992, revenues surpassed $100 million, propelling Rush towards its goal of becoming a billion-dollar enterprise.

In 1996, Rush Enterprises went public on NASDAQ, pioneering as the first publicly traded commercial truck dealer. Through strategic acquisitions and expansions, including IPOs in 2004 and 2006, the company rapidly grew, adding Peterbilt dealerships across multiple states and diversifying into specialty markets.

Under the leadership of Marvin’s son, W.M. “Rusty” Rush, appointed CEO in 2006, the company broadened its portfolio to include Navistar, Hino, Isuzu, UD, and Ford franchises, establishing dominance in medium- and light-duty sectors. Strategic partnerships and acquisitions further expanded Rush’s footprint, including ventures into aftermarket solutions and NASCAR sponsorships.

Today, Rush Enterprises boasts over 200 locations across North America, generating annual revenues exceeding $7 billion. Committed to innovation and customer-centric solutions, Rush continues to lead as a premier provider in the commercial vehicle industry.
