Bill & Carolyn Moon

Bill Moon began as a chemical salesman, founded NATSO in 1960, and later managed Iowa 80. In 1977, he created CAT Scales to help drivers meet weight rules. When Standard Oil sold Iowa 80 in 1984, Bill and his wife Carolyn bought it and grew it into the world’s largest truck stop. His legacy lives on through Iowa 80’s museum and dedication to serving drivers.

Joseph A. Morten & Joseph W. Morten

Morten“When you need truck insurance, baby, we got it!”

In the 1930s, Joseph A. Morten and his son Joe W. turned trucking’s chaos into opportunity. From a small office in South Sioux City, Nebraska, they helped truckers navigate regulations, file paperwork, and secure insurance. Joe Jr.’s hustle and wartime experience built trust in a tough industry. When insurers refused trucking risks, the Mortens founded Great West Insurance in 1956 which grew into Great West Casualty Company — a national leader serving truckers.

Dave Nemo

Dave Nemo, has kept America’s truckers company for decades. He first helmed The Road Gang on WWL (AM) Radio, reaching drivers nationwide overnight. Now on Road Dog Trucking on Sirius XM, Nemo broadcasts daily from Nashville, blending news, entertainment, and country music guests for life on the road.

The mission of the OOIDA is to serve owner-operators, small fleets and professional truckers; to work for a business climate where truckers are treated equally and fairly; to promote highway safety and responsibility among all highway users; and to promote a better business climate and efficiency for all truck operators.

Ted Rogers

Rogers

1888-1960

Ted Rodgers, born in 1888, left the coal mines to help shape trucking history. From selling trucks to founding Rodgers Motor Lines, he championed safer roads and better industry standards. As co-founder and first president of the American Trucking Association, Ted Rodgers left a legacy that still drives the industry today.
